MANICHAE

Manichae

Manichae are a 4-piece, Nottingham based hard rock/metal band with anarsenal of original tunes inspired by a variety of classic sounds: metal-grinding crunch of guitars, soul-shaking bass, gut-pounding drums and haunting melodic vocals mixed with face-peeling screams and shredding solos.

The origins of Manichae, formed by thrash, goth and rock influenced guitarist Andy MacDonald and the largely classic rock inspired Paul Thompson, lay scattered in the mists of time; but the darkly atmospheric, heavy sound that would remain Manichae's signature had been born.

Manichae first hit the stage in 2002, when new vocalist Paul "Mango" Hughes joined the ranks, bringing a wealth of lyrical experience with him, and a passion for heavy, grungy metal which had an immediate effect on the band's sound. In 2003, bass player Steve Beresford joined the line up, bringing to the band his well-defined, driving bass style, and adding a new dynamic to Manichae's songwriting. After 4 years of gigging, and with the line up almost complete, Karl Sturmer joined the band in 2006 to fill the vacated drummers spot, firmly leaving his mark as the new man pounding skins.
